【Amanohashidate】Exploring by Rental Bicycle – Types of Bikes and Recommended Routes
One-way rentals available!? Couples’ tandem bikes and boat combo tickets too!
If you want to explore the sightseeing spots efficiently while feeling the sea breeze and riding through pine forests, rental bicycles are the perfect choice.
Crossing the 3.6 km Amanohashidate sandbar takes about 70 minutes on foot, but only about 20 minutes by bicycle!
Ride through the pine groves at full speed while enjoying views of the sea on both sides, and head to the opposite shore.
There are several rental locations around Amanohashidate, each offering different usage options and bicycle types.
Here is your most detailed guide to bicycle rentals for making the most of your Amanohashidate adventure.

The most popular rental service is operated by Tango Kairiku Kotsu, which also runs sightseeing boats.
Bicycles can be rented on both sides of Amanohashidate—at the Monju Pier and the Ichinomiya Pier—and the biggest advantage is that you can drop off your bike on the opposite side.
The basic rental fee is 400 yen for the first two hours and 200 yen for each additional hour.
However, there are special discount tickets available that combine bike rentals with cable car rides or sightseeing boats—make sure to check these before renting your bicycle!
For example, you can rent your bike at Monju Pier, cycle across to Ichinomiya Pier, drop it off there, and take the cable car up to Kasamatsu Park, a superb viewpoint overlooking Amanohashidate.
After enjoying the spectacular scenery from above, take a sightseeing boat back to Monju.
You can also reverse this route by starting at Ichinomiya Pier, returning to the Monju side, and heading up to Amanohashidate View Land for views from the south.

Here’s a bonus tip!
At both Monju Pier and Ichinomiya Pier, Tango Kairiku Kotsu rents tandem bicycles.
Couples should definitely try them—pedaling together across this romantic destination is sure to bring you closer!
If you only want to make a round trip across Amanohashidate, combination tickets are available:
Sightseeing boat + bike for 900 yen, or motorboat + bike for 1,000 yen (groups of 4 or more only / unavailable during Golden Week and the Obon holiday period).
Ride across Amanohashidate by bicycle, then return by boat and enjoy the rare perspective of viewing the sandbar from the sea!
For motorboat combo plans, the “Charibō” service by Kasamatsu Marine Motorboat—located next to the main entrance of Amanohashidate Monju—is also recommended.
Bicycles can be picked up and returned near the sightseeing boat piers on either side.
Rates are 900 yen for adults, 600 yen for elementary students, and 400 yen for young children, including one hour of bicycle rental plus a boat ride.
Adult bicycles are stylish Bridgestone minibikes, and children’s bikes and bikes with child seats are also available—perfect for families.

In addition, rental bikes are available at tourist information centers, souvenir shops, hotels, and bicycle stores on both sides of the sandbar.
Most offer 2-hour rentals for 400–500 yen, but some shops provide daily plans for 500–1,000 yen. Choose the most suitable plan depending on your schedule.
For those who want to explore with minimal effort, electric-assist bicycles are highly recommended.
At the roadside station “Umi no Kyoto Miyazu”, located about a 10-minute walk from Miyazu Station, electric-assist bikes are available for 500 yen for two hours, and you can park your private car there for free while sightseeing by bike.
It takes about 20 minutes to cycle to Amanohashidate, but this option is ideal if you want to ride along the coastline or explore the surrounding area.
This roadside station, opened in November 2015, also has a tourist information center where you can get maps and spot recommendations.
Don’t forget to pick up souvenirs and fresh local produce before heading home!
Make the most of your visit to Amanohashidate with a rental bicycle and enjoy every scenic moment this spectacular destination has to offer.
