Q&A
Please review the following information before using our facility.
Facility Overview & Features
What kind of accommodation is "Auberge Villa Kuon"?
Located in the Kyoto Amanohashidate/Miyazu area, it's a completely private, luxury auberge villa (a whole-building rental) reserved for just one group per day. Set right on the oceanfront, it offers a spectacular, sweeping view of Miyazu Bay. With a private dining space for up to 8 guests and a dedicated chef who travels to prepare each meal, it offers the finest hospitality in complete privacy — and is a favorite choice for entertaining celebrities and VIP guests.
What's the villa's floor plan, size, and maximum capacity?
The villa has a spacious 4LDK layout — two Japanese-style rooms, two Western-style rooms, a living room, and a dining room (182.38㎡ of interior space on a 429.52㎡ plot). Standard capacity is 6 guests, but with extra bedding, up to 8 guests can stay, including children sharing a bed. The Western-style rooms have a total of 4 Simmons semi-double beds, making the villa comfortable for family trips, group travel, or business entertaining and gatherings with fellow executives.
Where and how do I check in?
Check-in takes place not at the villa itself, but at our sister property, "Amanohashidate Rikyu Hoshi no Oto" (2686 Hioki, Miyazu, Kyoto). Please head there first to receive your key and complete check-in, then make your way to Kuon.
What are the check-in and check-out times at Kuon?
Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 11:00, giving you a leisurely, indulgent stay through to the next morning.
Can I stay multiple nights, or for an extended period?
Yes — since the villa is reserved for just one group per day, you're welcome to enjoy an extended stay, much like living in your own vacation home. With a full range of appliances, a kitchen, and a private hot spring, it's a comfortable, resort-style stay that feels like home.
How is this different from other "Grande" properties?
Among the villas in the Grande collection, Kuon is positioned as an "auberge villa," specifically focused on cuisine and private service. With a dedicated dining space for up to 8 guests and a range of all-inclusive amenities, it's specially designed for an elevated, gourmet-focused experience.
What can you tell me about the exterior and interior design?
With a stylish black wood-grain exterior and a beautifully manicured front garden, the villa blends traditional Kyoto-style elegance with contemporary modern luxury — a high-end vacation-home design with a quiet, sophisticated sense of refinement.
Hot Springs, Bath, Sauna & Pool
Does the villa have a hot spring or sauna? What are the baths like?
Yes, the villa is equipped with two indulgent natural hot springs. The open-air "Gold Onsen" offers ocean views over Miyazu Bay, while the indoor "Silver Onsen" is perfect for a slow, thorough soak — both wrapped in the soothing sound of the waves. The property also features two types of private sauna, so you can enjoy a full contrast-bathing experience in complete privacy.
Can I use the private pool any time? What about its size or nighttime lighting?
The villa has a completely private pool on the grounds. At night, magical lighting transforms the entire villa into a modern, romantic space. Popular day or night, it's one of the highlights of an extraordinary, luxurious stay.
Dining & Chef Service
What's special about Kuon's private chef service and dining space?
The villa features a dedicated dining space, seating up to 8 guests, made for our traveling chef service. A dedicated chef comes to your own private space and prepares inventive dishes right in front of you, using fresh local ingredients and seasonal fish from Miyazu. With no one else around, you can enjoy a dining experience worthy of a fine Japanese restaurant, entirely to yourselves.
Does the menu change with the seasons?
Yes. Taking full advantage of our location right on Miyazu Bay, we use the best local fish and carefully selected regional ingredients in season, so the menu changes throughout the year. Our chef brings a personal touch to whatever's best each time, so every visit offers something new to discover.
Can you accommodate food allergies or ingredients I'd rather avoid?
Yes. Since your meal is prepared by a dedicated chef just for you, please let us know about any allergies or ingredients you'd prefer to avoid when you book. We'll do our best to tailor a special menu to your needs.
Can we dine with young children?
Absolutely. Since the dining space is completely private to your own whole-villa rental, families with young children can relax and enjoy their meal without worrying about other guests. It's also perfect for family celebrations and special occasions.
Can I have a BBQ on the terrace?
Yes. In addition to our chef-prepared meal plans, you're welcome to bring your own ingredients and create your own BBQ. For safety reasons, bringing your own cooking equipment with an open flame isn't permitted — please reserve our gas BBQ grill rental in advance (¥5,000 tax included, includes grill and tongs) and use it in the designated terrace area.
Views & Location
What can I see from the room or terrace? What are the location's highlights?
Facing southeast, Kuon's terrace looks directly out onto a beautiful sunrise over Miyazu Bay. On clear nights, moonlight can trace a mystical, shimmering path — a "moon road" — across the calm water. It's an oceanfront view worth enjoying at any hour of the day.
What's it like to stay in winter? What heating is available?
Every room is equipped with high-performance air conditioning and heating, so you'll stay warm and comfortable even in winter. In fact, the cold season is when the villa's two natural hot springs (Gold and Silver Onsen) and private sauna feel their best — perfect for an indulgent winter hot-spring getaway.
What happens to the pool and terrace during a typhoon or bad weather?
In cases of severe weather, strong wind, or typhoons, we may restrict use of the terrace BBQ or pool for safety reasons. Even then, you can still enjoy the villa's luxurious indoor spaces — the spacious ocean-view living room, the private hot springs (Gold and Silver Onsen), and the sauna.
Business, Facilities & Amenities
Can I use the villa for business entertaining or a large gathering?
Yes, and we highly recommend it. The dedicated dining space accommodates up to 8 guests, making it ideal for entertaining VIPs and important clients, or for gatherings with fellow executives. For even larger groups or additional overnight stays, you can also book nearby sister villas (such as Ruriha) at the same time for extra flexibility.
What amenities are provided?
For a comfortable stay, we provide face towels, bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, bar soap, and toothbrushes, along with amenities such as lotion and cleansing products. Pajamas (one size) and slippers are also available as room wear.
What appliances and internet (Wi-Fi) are available in the room?
The villa is equipped with air conditioning, a television, a refrigerator, a microwave, an electric kettle, and a hair dryer. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is also available throughout the property, making it suitable for staying connected or working remotely during your stay.
What cookware, dishes, and seasonings are in the kitchen?
For simple home cooking, the kitchen comes with a kitchen knife, cutting board, frying pan, pots (large and small), a ladle, a spatula, and a bottle/wine opener. Tableware includes flat plates, rice bowls, glasses, teacups, and a teapot, along with disposable chopsticks, knives, forks, and spoons. For hygiene reasons, seasonings such as salt and oil are not provided, so please bring your own if needed.
I've heard celebrities and public figures often stay here — is privacy assured?
Yes. Since the villa is a completely private, whole-building rental, and all dining and services take place within your own closed-off space, you'll never cross paths with other guests. That's why it's trusted by celebrities, public figures, and VIPs who place the highest value on privacy.
Others
Can I stay with my pet?
We're sorry, but Auberge Villa Kuon does not accept pets. Nearby sister properties such as Ruriha and Marintopia the Suite do welcome dogs, so please consider one of those instead.
Is parking available? How many cars, and is there a shuttle?
Two free parking spaces are available on the villa grounds. If you're arriving with three or more vehicles, please let us know in advance and we'll direct you to nearby parking.
If you're traveling by public transportation, a complimentary shuttle from Amanohashidate Station is available, departing at 14:30 in principle. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance — same-day requests can't be accepted, and depending on availability, the shuttle may be shared with other guests. If you're sightseeing by boat or bicycle and end up on the opposite side of the station, we may also be able to pick you up from the "Nishigaki Fuchu Store" supermarket — please contact us to arrange a time.
Is the facility barrier-free?
We meet the permit requirements for lodging facilities.
Is it suitable for wheelchair users or pregnant guests?
While we are not fully wheelchair-accessible, our staff will be happy to assist you during your stay to ensure comfort.
Can I use facilities inside the resort condominium?
Only Marina Toppia Resort owners are permitted to use those facilities.
Do staff speak English?
We communicate using a translation app.
Can I use the hot springs and sauna if I have tattoos?
Yes. Because the hot springs, sauna, and pool are completely private to your own villa, guests with tattoos are welcome without any concerns — unlike public onsen facilities.
Is tipping expected?
No — tipping isn't part of Japanese culture and isn't expected or necessary here.
What should I pack? What's the climate like?
The villa sits right on Miyazu Bay, so sea breezes can make evenings cool even in summer — we recommend packing a light layer regardless of season.
Access & Nearby Attractions
Are there beaches nearby?
Yes — Komatsuhama Beach is about a 10–15 minute walk away.
Are there any recommended spots for viewing Amanohashidate?
Yes. About a 9-minute drive from the villa, Kasamatsu Park offers a famous northern viewpoint — look at Amanohashidate upside down through your legs, and the sandbar appears to transform into a dragon ascending to the sky. On the south side, you'll find Amanohashidate itself, where you can walk along the pine-covered sandbar; Amanohashidate View Land, reached by chairlift or monorail; and Chion-ji Temple, dedicated to the deity of wisdom (each about a 24–26 minute drive).
Can I visit the boathouses of Ine?
Yes, it's about a 17-minute drive. Ine is a fishing village famous for its funaya — boathouses built right at the water's edge — and it's a popular day-trip destination for many of our guests. We can also arrange an Ine Bay cruise; please feel free to ask if you're interested.
