Ine no Funaya
Ine no Funaya – The Boathouses of Ine are one of Kyoto’s most iconic attractions and the first fishing village in Japan to be designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

Each Funaya has a boat garage, storage, and workspace on the first floor, where the slanted flooring allows boats to be pulled directly out of the water.
The second floor serves as living quarters, and many of these boathouses are still inhabited today.
Some Funaya operate as guesthouses, making it possible to stay overnight and experience life on the water.

The rows of Funaya surrounding the bay are known as the Funaya District, and their unique appearance—jutting out over the sea—creates a breathtaking and unforgettable landscape.
